Despite russia’s offer to disarm and leave the territory of the ‘Azovstal’ plant, the defenders of Mariupol have no intention of taking it up, according to The Time war correspondent Simon Schuster.
“I am in touch with one of the last Mariupol fighters. He is wounded. After the massacre in Bucha, according to him, “surrender is impossible.” He assumes that his unit has served its mission. They crashed so much of russian firepower that it gave other cities a chance to survive,” he wrote.
The offer to surrender was voiced by the head of the National Defense Control Center of the russian federation, Mikhail Mizintsev.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the atrocities of the russian Armed Forces are increasingly weakening the position of the russian side in peace negotiations.
«The more Borodyanka towns will be, the less chance that negotiations will resume at all. The deliberate killing of our defenders and civilians in Mariupol — and this is exactly what the russians are doing now — can put a decisive end to any format of negotiations.»
