On the morning of March 24, 2022, several explosions occurred in the occupied by Russian troops port of Berdyansk. As a result, a large-scale fire broke out, which was seen from all sides of the city. The large landing ship “Orsk” of the Russian Navy was on fire, and two other vessels “Novocherkask” and “Tsezar Kunikov”, were also damaged, according to the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
‘In the amphibious assault ship «Saratov», destroyed in Berdyansk, were 20 tanks, 45 armored personnel carriers, and 400 personnel’ – a freelance adviser of the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovych said.
It should be noted that earlier the port was already actively used by the occupiers – tons of grain was stolen on several ships, and some military equipment was transported by ships of the Russian Navy.
